Southern Region Map

The current Southern Region Section Two of the Order of the Arrow encompasses 14 member lodges from Texas and Louisiana. SR-2 was formed from a realignment of portions of SR1, SR2 and SR3 in 2000. Since the formation of the current boundaries, SR2 is ranked the 2nd largest section by land area and largest section by population. Because of the large size, the section is divided into three smaller areas called sub-sections. Each sub-section has a chairman, appointed by the Section chief, to assist lodges in that area with program support. The eastern sub-section includes the Atchafalaya, Quelqueshoe, Hasinai, Colonneh and Wihinipa Hinsa lodges. The central sub-section consists of Wewanoma, Karankawa, Aina Topa Hutsi and Tonkawa lodges. Finally, the western sub-section covers the Wahinkto, Penateka, Tatanka, Netopalis Sipo Schipinachk and Nakona lodges.

Each year the section conducts the annual conclave where members meet at either a camp or university to attend training sessions, fellowship with other brothers and elect the new section officers for the year. Additionally, every other year smaller trainings, called Winter Leadership Encampments, are held at camps in each of the three sub-sections. These trainings are focused more on assisting lodge officers in program planning and implementation.

A program entitled "One Day of Service" is an effort for lodges in the Southern Region to actively participate in service to their communities. The section actively encourages lodges to take part in this event each year, under the leadership of a One Day chairman. Since 1994 the national Order of the Arrow organization has built and maintained trails at Philmont Scout Ranch under the Order of the Arrow Trail Crew (OATC) program. Because of the success of OATC, similar adventures have been started at Northern Tier under the name of Wilderness Voyage and an underwater experience at Florida Sea Base called Order of the Arrow Ocean Adventure. The High Adventure chairman for the section actively encourages members to take part in these unique experiences.
